Townsville Art and Framing have a wide range of pencils including lead, pastel, watercolour, graphite and inktense. Our pencils are available individually or in sets (tins and wooden boxes) dependent on the brand and availablilty.

Artitist Pencils

The Dewent Artists Pencils are the traditional coloured pencils. They have a round barrel with a wide core. These pencils are ideal for multiple layering and blending to product an infinite spectrum of colour.

Pastel Pencils

Dewent Pastel Pencils – All the beauty of a pastel with the convenience and control of of a pencil. The soft powery texture produces a smooth velvety finish, ideal for blending and mixing.

Faber-Castell Pit Pastel Pencils – These pencils are made in Germany and have soft vibrant colour laydown. The pigments are high quality and in a variety of bright colours and are acid free. These pencils are ideal for smudging.

Watercolour Pencils

We stock both the Faber-Castell and Dewent Watercolour pencil ranges. These pencils are versitile and have a water-coluable core allow you to draw and paint with complete control. They can be used wet or dry on wet or dry paper to create a variety of effects.

Inktense Pencils & Blocks

Derwent Inktense Pencils – Combines the vibrancy of ink with the subtlety of pencils. Apply rich, deep, dry colour then wash out to create a pure and translucent ink-like effect. One dry, Inktense becomes permanent and can be worked over without affecting the layers of vivid colour. Perfect for everything from delicate line and wash to expressive mixed media.

Dewent Inktense Blocks – These watersoluble ink blocks combine the versatility of Inktense with the freedom of blocks, opening up an exciting world of endless possibilities. They are perfect for covering large areas and creating free and expressive marks. When water is added, deep intense colours are created, giving pure and translucent ink-like effect.

Coloursoft Pencils

Derwent Coloursoft are highly versatile colour pencils with soft, velvety strip for the quick, dense application of bold vibrant colour, plus they can be easily sharpened to a find point for detailed work. Capable of being mixed and blended to create an infinite spectrum of rich, dazzling colour. Derwent Coloursoft can be used for a wide variety of work from finely detailed illustrations to bold, contemporary still-life and portaiture.

Graphite

Derwent Graphitint- Used dry, Graphitint provides just a hint of colour but adding water transforms the tint into rich, vibrant shades. Ideal for landscapes, animal studies and portraits.

Derwent XL Graphite- From sensitive line work and subtle blending, to expressive marks and deep tonal work, Derwent XL Graphite is smooth and refined. Also water-soluble for greater versatility and artistic potential.

We also stock woodless graphite pencils, in HB, 2B, 4B and 6B.

Charcoal

Derwent Tinted Charcoal- These wonderfully expressive pencils offer the dramatic beauty of traditional charcoal with the gentle hint of colour. Combining natural charcoal particles with the finest clays, the pencils can be sharpened to a point yet smudge and blend easily to produce deep, rich tones.

Charcoal sticks- We stock the Coates Willow Charcoal in Thin (2-3mm) and Medium (5-6mm). We also stock Sinoart Charcoal Sticks in 3-6mm and 6-8mm. General’s White Charcoal Compressed Sticks and paper stumps are also available.
