NATURAL HAIR BRUSHES
Types of hairs used in our range of natural hair brushes inlcude:
Sable– Extremely soft and tapered to a fine point. The hairs (from the tail of a sable marten) are perfect for watercolours due to their softness, flexibility and absorbtion. When used with oil paints, sable hair brushes produce smooth, precise strokes and subtle blending effects.
Squirrel– Soft hairs with minimal spring, our squirrel hair brushes are dense which provides optimum support. The fine hairs are absorbent and taper to a fine point which is best used with lighter mediums such as watercolour.
Camel– An all encompassing term for a range of natural animal hairs used either alone or in combination with each other. Hairs commonly used include ox, squirrel, pony and goat. Our camel hair mop brushes are ideal for watercolour washes and blending oils.
Hog– Used for oils and acrylics where it is necessary to spread thick consistencies or where a textured application is desired. The hairs are strong yet springy and have natural split ends, increasing the volume of paint held.

HOGS BRISTLE BRUSHES
Hog hair brushes, are generally used for student needs but there are applications where the stiffness is required for stencilling style work, thankfully the main advantage is the price but there are inferior brands that is sometimes a waste of money so ensure you ask about the quality versus price when purchasing.
